An established and well-regarded mining operation in the Hunter Valley is seeking a Health & Safety Coordinator to join their site-based team.
This is a hands‐on role suited to someone who enjoys being out in the field, working closely with operations, and playing a key role in driving a proactive safety culture across site.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Health, Safety & Training Manager, you will be responsible for supporting leaders and frontline teams in the implementation and continuous improvement of site safety systems, procedures, and initiatives.
This role offers strong exposure across the operation, with a high level of involvement in audits, risk management, and incident investigation.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the implementation and continuous improvement of site Health & Safety systems and processes
* Facilitate and lead risk assessments across operational areas
* Conduct incident investigations and support root cause analysis
* Maintain and contribute to safety management systems and reporting frameworks
* Undertake site audits, inspections, and compliance activities
* Assist in the development of hazard management plans and safety initiatives
* Analyse safety data and provide insights to improve performance
* Support emergency response and crisis management planning (desirable)
* Build strong working relationships across operations, contractors, and leadership teams
This role requires a strong on-site presence, working closely with crews to drive engagement and accountability across safety practices.
About You
We are looking for a proactive and practical safety professional who thrives in a high-risk environment.
You will bring:
* Minimum 3+ years' experience in a Health & Safety role
* Background in mining or other high-risk industries (construction, heavy industry)
Strong experience in:
* Incident investigations
* Safety systems and process development
* Exposure to audits, inspections, and compliance frameworks
* Strong data analysis and reporting capability
* Solid to advanced skills in the Microsoft Office suite
* A hands‐on, visible approach to safety leadership
