A proud asset of Ipswich City Council is the Ipswich Art Gallery. The Gallery is a visual arts and social history museum presenting a dynamic program of exhibitions and cultural displays. Embracing an audience-centred approach, the Gallery team make art come to life for the benefit of the Ipswich community, growing and diversifying the audience locally and regionally.
**About the role**
As Exhibitions and Collections Officer, you will be an important part of the Art Gallery team and will be responsible for supporting the professional delivery of exhibitions, both in-house and external. Your main focus will be on assisting in the development of exhibitions and displays for the Ipswich Art Gallery, Ipswich Community Gallery and other council buildings as required.
Some of your key responsibilities will include
- Assist in the development and implementation of exhibitions and displays
- Support the Art Gallery Director, Engagement and Operations Manager and other gallery staff in the on-going operations of the Ipswich Art Gallery and Ipswich Community Gallery
- Undertake research and document information for catalogues, acquisition proposals, reports, cultural gifts, and other requests for information
- Implement policies, procedures, and systems to ensure the effective presentation and maintenance of exhibitions and displays
- Maintain and contribute to collection records through the use of the collection database (KE Emu)
- Research and write didactic panels, expanded labels for exhibitions
- Assist with the installation and demount of exhibitions and collection displays, including physical preparation, maintenance and multimedia setup for exhibitions involving working with power tools, manual handling, some heavy lifting and working at heights.
Ipswich Art Gallery operates 7 days a week, this role may require weekend and holiday work.
**About you**
To be successful in this role you will have:

- An ability to work in a team and willingness to support colleagues as required
- A recognised tertiary qualification in Art History, Visual Arts and/or Art Museum Studies and relevant work experience and equivalent combination
- An Australian Drivers Licence
- Working from heights license or ability to acquire one
- Blue Card or ability to acquire one
A Medical will be required for this role due to the physical requirements.

This is a permanent role, Level 3 wit a salary commencing at $74,497 plus superannuation of up to 12.25%
