An exciting opportunity has presented itself to join the Gold Coast services team as a Field Engineer working on the nbn network. The Field Services (FS) Team within Chief Operations Business Unit provides Field Workforce capabilities across all technologies for Service Activation, Service Assurance, Network Assurance, Network Maintenance, Customer Complaints linked with Network faults and Quality Inspection.
A bit about your role
Based in Gold Coast, your role as a Field Engineer will focus on representing nbn's Field Services team in all field‐based assurance and build activities specifically related to the HFC network. You will support HFC network integration, augmentation and upgrades, conduct field audits and ensure connect quality and Delivery Partner performance across services linked to the HFC infrastructure.
Responsibilities
* Field management and network assurance across nbn's passive and active infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on the HFC (Hybrid Fibre‐Coaxial) network.
* Oversee assurance activities and execute network element upgrades within the HFC domain.
* Provide high‐level field support, including travel, scheduled after‐hours work and participation in an on‐call roster to respond to urgent HFC‐related escalations and service issues.
* Conduct field audits, ensuring connect quality and Delivery Partner performance across services linked to the HFC infrastructure.
* Resolve escalations and perform deep‐deep troubleshooting for HFC architecture, RF fundamentals, and operations.
Key Qualifications and Requirements
* Strong technical background in maintaining and restoring HFC infrastructure with hands‐on field‐based assurance and fault resolution experience.
* Deep understanding of HFC architecture and operations, including Nodes, Amps and passive devices.
* Familiarity with FTTX technologies such as FTTP is advantageous; a robust grasp of HFC is essential.
* Familiarity with network assurance protocols across technologies like Ethernet, DWDM and GPON is beneficial.
* Excellent problem‐solving skills, methodical approach to troubleshooting and escalation management.
* Quick learner who can adapt to evolving technologies and field conditions.
* Flexible and resilient under pressure, able to manage competing priorities.
* Highly organised team player with a constructive mindset and proactive approach to challenges.
* Full working rights in Australia.
* Will undergo a Criminal History Check and a Pre‐Employment Medical Assessment to assess ability to perform the role's genuine occupational requirements.
