Job Overview
The role of Strategic Communications Professional will play a pivotal part in shaping and implementing our organisation's communications strategy across various channels. This encompasses creating engaging content for diverse audiences, designing and developing materials to support research, media engagement, social media presence, and advocacy initiatives.
This position requires exceptional writing, conceptual, and analytical skills, as well as proficiency in graphic design, social media management, and adaptability to new tools and methodologies. Strong passion for informing and engaging stakeholders is also essential.
The successful candidate will possess strong organisational skills to monitor performance, refine strategies, and foster collaboration with internal teams, partners, and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
* Delivers on our communications strategy to ensure consistent, accessible, and strategic communication across all channels.
* Develops and distributes newsletters, reports, and manages digital platforms, including social media and websites.
* Supports the creation of multimedia content, such as video and podcast material.
* Collaborates with operations teams to deliver community events and member communications.
* Built relationships with partners, stakeholders, and members to promote collaboration and support.
* Tracks campaign performance and provides regular updates to executives.
* Generates media stories for coverage in local media outlets.
* Works with cultural leads to develop culturally appropriate language materials.
* Demonstrates a commitment to teamwork and contributes to decision-making processes.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Ability to work effectively with diverse groups, demonstrating understanding of Indigenous cultures.
* Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Indigenous people.
* Proven time management and organisational skills, with experience managing diverse workloads, meeting deadlines, and maintaining attention to detail.
* Strong digital literacy, including experience with Mailchimp, Canva, and Adobe Suite.
* Hands-on experience in developing communications products, including social media posts, newsletters, and reports.
* Ability to work proactively, positively, and effectively in a team environment to achieve outcomes.
* Adaptable and open to learning new skills and methodologies.
* Tertiary qualification in Marketing, Media, Communication, or Arts or equivalent.
* Experience with podcast and video tools (desirable).
