Job Title: Transport Operations Manager
Location: Sydney, NSW Reports To: State Manager
Job Purpose: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Operations Manager to oversee the Sydney Depots Operations. In this role, you will drive performance improvements in transport and warehousing, manage the "Cost of Doing Business," and ensure high standards in OHS, compliance, and overall operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
* Operational Leadership & Improvement:
1. Review and analyse operational KPIs to identify opportunities for process and system enhancements.
2. Implement changes aimed at maximising margins and reducing costs while protecting company assets.
* Stakeholder & Communication Management:
1. Act as a key advisor on depot issues by liaising with the State Manager, operations teams, administration personnel, and customers.
2. Ensure open, regular, and effective communication across all levels, facilitating prompt and efficient resolution of depot challenges.
* Resource & Fleet Management:
1. Oversee the efficient utilisation of fleet and other shared resources to meet seasonal demands and maintain operational efficiency.
2. Ensure operational compliance, including meeting regulated working hours and vehicle loading requirements.
* Staff Management & Leadership:
1. Provide clear leadership and direction to the operations team, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
2. Attract, develop, and retain top talent, ensuring that staffing levels align with daily service standards.
* Financial & Reporting Responsibilities:
1. Control human resource costs and operational inefficiencies through accurate monitoring and reporting (e.g., weekly P&L, debtor days, and other financial metrics).
2. Ensure timely preparation and submission of operational reports and paperwork.
* OHS & Compliance:
1. Monitor adherence to all OHS and compliance standards, including Chain of Responsibility, Load Restraint, Driver Fatigue Management, and quality certifications.
2. Investigate issues, implement corrective actions, and lead initiatives to reduce incidents and ensure a safe working environment.
