Be part of a dynamic inpatient psychology service within South Western Sydney Local Health District, delivering high‑quality mental health care across multiple hospital settings. These roles offer the opportunity to work within specialist mental health units at Campbelltown Hospital and Bankstown Hospital, including the Adolescent Mental Health Unit, Acute Mental Health Unit, and Banks House. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide targeted psychological and psychosocial assessment, intervention, and consultation for consumers experiencing complex mental health presentations, including acute suicide risk, self‑harm, psychosis, drug and alcohol issues, severe anxiety, depression, and challenging behaviours. You will have the opportunity to deliver individual therapy, facilitate group programs, support diagnostic clarification, contribute to behavioural management, and participate in service evaluation, education, training and clinical supervision—helping to shape safe, effective, and recovery‑oriented care.


Are You the Right Fit?

The successful candidate will have demonstrated expertise in delivering targeted psychological and psychosocial assessments, diagnosis, interventions, and consultation for consumers with complex mental health conditions, including acute suicide and self-harm risk, psychosis, drug and alcohol issues, severe anxiety and depression, and challenging behaviours. The role includes providing 1:1 psychological interventions, facilitating group programs, supporting diagnostic clarification and behavioural management, contributing to the evaluation of clinical outcomes, assisting in the development and delivery of education and training programs, and, where appropriate to the psychologist's stage of professional development, supervising Psychologists and other disciplines within the LHD in line with organisational needs.


Selection Criteria

* Full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia with Endorsement in Clinical or Forensic Psychology (or eligibility to progress to same), along with a minimum two year Full Time equivalent APAC accredited postgraduate Clinical Psychology or Forensic Psychology qualification.
* Describe your experience in conducting psychosocial, psychometric, and cognitive assessments within a mental health setting. In your response, include an example of how the assessment outcomes were used for case formulation, intervention planning and evaluating treatment effectiveness.
* Provide an example of a time you delivered evidence‑based psychological interventions to a consumer with acute or complex mental health needs. Outline how you exercised independent clinical judgement, collaborated with the multidisciplinary team and adapted your therapeutic approach to maximise consumer outcomes.
* Applicants must possess an Australian C‑Class driver's licence (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class licence (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) licence within three months of appointment. Learner's licences are not permitted.
