At United Equipment Services, we're a trusted name in the service, installation, and repair of commercial kitchen equipment across Melbourne.
Our clients span cafés, hospitals, aged care homes, and restaurants — all relying on us to keep their kitchens safe, functional, and efficient.As demand grows, we're looking for an experienced technician or engineer with strong electrical knowledge and the initiative to take on a hands-on role that also involves technical planning and troubleshooting across diverse sites.What You'll Be DoingCarrying out the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems for commercial kitchen and automation equipment.Assisting with scheduled servicing and attending urgent breakdowns to minimise disruption to client operations.Reading and interpreting schematics, wiring layouts, and control diagrams.Investigating electrical faults and implementing repairs on panels, motor controls, and low-voltage systems.Working collaboratively with team members, clients, and suppliers to deliver timely, safe, and high-quality outcomes.Preparing basic documentation including test records, system status notes, and client guidance.Occasionally assisting with the design or adjustment of small electrical setups to meet site-specific needs.What You'll BringA trade qualification or engineering degree in Electrical or Electronics (or equivalent overseas qualification).
At least 5 years' hands-on experience working with electrical systems, including some exposure to automation or process controls.Comfortable with fault-finding, wiring, and component-level diagnostics.Prior experience working with control panels, PLCs, or low-voltage installations is a strong advantage.Good understanding of safety procedures and relevant Australian (or international) standards.Ability to work independently and think through technical challenges under time pressure.Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to job sites across the Melbourne metro area.Bonus Points ForExperience in commercial kitchen, hospitality, or aged care environments.Interest in energy-efficient systems, building automation, or low-current infrastructure.Willingness to learn local codes and regulations if internationally qualified.What We OfferA supportive small-team environment where your input is valued.Opportunities to work on a broad range of sites and systems — no two days are the same.Scope to grow into a more senior or specialised role as we expand.Competitive remuneration with allowances and ongoing support for your development.
