Project Coordinator

HDR's Architecture Business Group is seeking a Project Coordinator (Req 192245) with strong technical documentation and drawing skills to join our Melbourne studio.

Salary: $80,000-87,000+ superannuation.

Responsibilities

* Collaborate with the wider project team for the design and documentation of architectural projects.
* Create construction documentation of the building and assist in coordination with the consultant team to address the client brief and to satisfy HDR objectives.

Key Accountabilities

Technical Delivery

* Independently create schematic, design development and construction documentation.
* Take ownership of assigned deliverables, using your knowledge and experience to deliver accurate and consistent outcomes.
* Possess sound fundamental knowledge of minimum project compliance requirements including DA, CC, BCA/NCC, DDA, ensuring documentation is aligned with codes and regulations.
* Demonstrate attention to detail and ability to check work thoroughly before further review.
* Demonstrate proficiency in frequently used software including Revit, Rhino, MS Office, Adobe Suite.
* Maintain document control and ensure up-to-date documentation using HDR's systems and workflows.

Design Philosophy & Leadership

* Coordinate the architectural design process, develop alternative solutions and presentation graphics to communicate concepts effectively.
* Produce reasonable study models, renderings, montages, diagrams, and presentations, including image boards, to clearly communicate design intent.
* Propose creative and technically sound design solutions that capture/enhance the design intent of the project.
* Assist with preparation for internal and external design and documentation reviews, ensuring all design solutions enhance and maintain the project's design intent.
* Develop and improve basic knowledge of materiality and material limitations specified and drawn within project-specific contexts.
* Translate Design Intent into clearly defined project deliverables across all project phases.
* Develop sound understanding of how theoretical architectural design translates into commercial practice.

Project Management

* Apply fundamental Project Management principles to support project delivery.
* Coordinate with Project Leaders to manage external requests and track potential scope changes via internal change control procedures.
* Work with Project Leader to understand and confirm weekly drawing, design, and task deliverables.
* Accurately manage time tracking and resource allocation, ensuring tasks are delivered within budgets and timelines; escalating issues or discrepancies as required.
* Support monthly project financial updates, including contributing to HDR Deliverables Planner and estimating hours to complete.

Business Development

* Promote HDR positively to industry and colleagues.
* Demonstrate a well‐rounded understanding of HDR's core sector typologies in Australia.
* Support business development efforts by contributing to proposals, presentations and design documentation that reflect HDR's design excellence and strategic value.

Desired Skills and Competencies

* Tertiary qualifications in Architecture.
* 3-8 years' experience in building design and documentation.
* Experience in the Data Centre sector (highly regarded).
* Ability to independently produce high quality schematic, design development and construction documentation.
* Understanding of key compliance requirements (DA, CC, BCA/NCC, DDA) and ability to align documentation with codes.
* High proficiency in Revit.
* Proactive, agile working style, open to contributing to various sectors and workstreams.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong problem solving and continuous improvement mindset.
* Collaborative, proactive and highly organised with good time management.
* Strong portfolio with great eye for presentation and attention to detail.
* Strong interest in personal and professional development.
