About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Lead Test Engineer to take ownership of all testing activities across electrical wiring harnesses, interconnect systems and electronic box (E‑Box) assemblies.
In this senior technical role, you will plan, develop and maintain test equipment, programs, and processes while providing strong technical leadership to test technicians and engineers. You will also play a key role in driving Lean and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance automation, efficiency, reliability and first‑pass yield.
This position works closely with Production, Quality, Engineering and Program teams to ensure testing solutions meet customer, regulatory and quality system requirements while supporting on‑time delivery.

Key Responsibilities
Test Engineering & Equipment Development
* Design, develop and implement test equipment, fixtures and automated test systems for wiring harnesses and E‑Box assemblies
* Develop, optimise and validate test programs across platforms such as CEETIS and custom functional testers
* Ensure all test methods comply with customer specifications, industry standards and internal quality systems
* Lead root cause investigations for test failures and quality escapes
* Maintain calibration, compliance and reliability of all test equipment
Technical Leadership & Team Development
* Provide day‑to‑day technical leadership to test technicians and junior engineers
* Develop training plans and deliver skills development sessions
* Mentor team members in troubleshooting, test interpretation and structured problem‑solving
Resource Planning & Documentation
* Plan manpower and equipment resources to meet production and capacity requirements
* Prepare and maintain engineering documentation including test plans, work instructions, equipment manuals and calibration records
* Ensure documentation aligns with ISO9001 / AS9100 and customer‑specific requirements
Lean & Continuous Improvement
* Lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve test efficiency, automation and workflow
* Apply Lean principles to reduce waste, cycle time and improve tester utilisation
* Drive initiatives to improve equipment uptime, reliability and standardisation
* Develop automated testing solutions to improve accuracy and reduce manual effort where feasible
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
* Partner with Production, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Program Management and Supply Chain teams
* Contribute to design reviews with a focus on testability and manufacturability
* Support New Product Introduction (NPI) by defining test strategies, equipment and program requirements
Reporting & Test Performance Analysis
* Analyse test data and report on key metrics including:
* First Pass Yield (FPY)
* Defect rates and Pareto analysis
* Cycle time and process efficiency
* Equipment utilisation and capacity
* Prepare reports for management and stakeholders
* Recommend and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
Skills & Experience (Required)
* Experience in electrical test engineering within wiring harness, avionics, defence, automotive or electronics manufacturing environments
* Strong experience with harness testing platforms such as CEETIS and custom functional testers
* Proven capability in designing automated test equipment (ATE), fixtures and functional test programs
* Strong ability to interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, drawings and bills of materials
* Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and root‑cause problem‑solving skills
* Experience working within ISO9001 / AS9100 quality systems
* Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement tools
* Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring technical teams
* Informal mentoring experience with technical team members is desirable
Ideally, you will also have:
* Knowledge of embedded systems, PCB‑level testing or environmental stress screening (ESS)
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics or a related discipline
* Eligibility for Defence Security Clearance and EAR / ITAR compliance
