About the role:As a Governance Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring compliance with statutory obligations, supporting Council and Committee processes, and contributing to the delivery of high-quality governance services. This position offers variety and responsibility, including:
* Preparing Council and Committee agendas and minutes.
* Assisting with statutory compliance under the Local Government Act and related legislation.
* Supporting elected members and senior staff with governance matters.
The person:The successful applicant will align with our values and ideally have the following competencies:
* Secondary studies within a business administration or related field and / or experience in a corporate governance / administration environment.
* Ability to interpret legislation.
* Well-developed and accurate computer skills including Microsoft Office and experience in website maintenance.
* Sound knowledge of meeting procedures, and ability to take minutes and prepare reports, agendas and minutes.
* Well-developed organisational skills and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
* Well-developed communication skills, both written and oral.
The successful applicant will be required to provide a National Police Clearance no more than six months old.
