AWUGA, Level 3, $75,422 – $78,333 p.a. plus 12% Superannuation

Location: Albany

This permanent, full‐time position is based in Albany and is part of the South Coast Region's effort to provide nature conservation, parks and visitor services and fire management.

Responsibilities

* Operate heavy machinery such as a 950 Caterpillar Wheel Loader, D6 Caterpillar bulldozer, or equivalent in forested environments and challenging terrain.
* Load, unload and transport heavy machinery with a Prime Mover and traverse on a variety of roads and conditions.
* Undertake bushfire suppression work at all categories of bushfire (levels 1, 2, and 3) once fire line competent.
* Apply appropriate disease hygiene, health and safety requirements at all times.

Qualifications & Selection Criteria

* Demonstrated ability to operate heavy machinery in forested environments, including loading, unloading and transportation of heavy equipment.
* Ability to supervise and coach others, identify training needs, conduct training, and promote continuous learning.
* Physically fit for operational fire work and able to pass the departmental fire fitness test.
* Availability for fire service consistent with AWU Award 1992 and prevailing industrial agreements, including participation in fire availability rosters.
* Ability to plan and implement work programs efficiently, organise resources, determine priorities and maintain quality control measures.
* Ability to liaise with and negotiate with internal stakeholders to secure approvals and agree on standards of work.
* Good oral communication, interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and in a team.
* Good literacy skills and ability to complete records and reports accurately and timely, including use of relevant computers.
* Understanding of work health and safety, equity and diversity principles and practices.
* Current 'C' and 'MR' Class Driver's Licence, plus an 'HC' Driver's Licence or ability to acquire as soon as possible.
* Ability and willingness to acquire Certificate III in Conservation and Ecosystem Management.
* Experience in Dieback Disease Hygiene requirements and machine operations in environmentally sensitive areas (desirable).
