Teacher - PPA Leader Identity and Literacy & Numeracy Intervention - Geraldton Flexible School Continuing, Full Time Start: 27 January 2025 ABOUT THE ORGANISATION:Geraldton Flexible School is a Catholic School in the Edmund Rice tradition. There are 23 Flexible Schools throughout Australia who offer a full-time and multiyear secondary education program for young people who have disengaged from mainstream schooling. Enrolled young people may express a broad range of complex education and social needs and flexible schools respond with a variety of flexible and innovative teaching and learning practices including vocational planning and the development of social connectedness. The purpose of a Flexible School is to provide young people with a varied and holistic set of learning experiences supporting them to identify and pursue an individual transition to adulthood, employment, further education and training and social connectedness. ABOUT THE ROLE Position Purpose PPA: Whole school Literacy and numeracy intervention program Develop and lead a whole school approach to improve literacy and numeracy outcomes of the young people. Facilitate appropriate staff development and training in literacy and numeracy strategies Track young people data to inform progress and review Collate reports as required for Principal Use data to help inform teaching teams to set goals and implement targeted adjustments for Young People IEPs. Assist the Leadership team to collate NCCD data and evidence to improve young people’s outcomes Identify Leadership Develop and implement appropriate and relevant staff and young people formation experiences. Develop and implement appropriate Social Justice and Solidarity opportunities for staff and young people Position Purpose - Classroom Teacher The Teacher reports to the principal. They work collaboratively with all staff. They have delegated responsibility to develop and maintain learning and social inclusion responses of the campus. This includes but not limited to: Planning, preparation and delivery of engaging learning and teaching programs for young people in the middle and secondary phase of secondary education, creating flexible, innovative curriculum to engage students, including project-based learning and engagement activities. Plan and effectively implement class and individual student learning programs that meet all legislative requirements with respect to young people with learning difficulties and disabilities i.e. Disability Discrimination Act, Disability Standards for Education, National Consistent Collection of Data, National Disability Insurance Scheme. Build learning programs that reflect the diversity within the classroom and design learning experiences that cater for individuals with specific needs. To ensure young people are provided with a learning program that maximizes their outcomes (academically, behaviorally and/or socially) through the development of Individual Learning Plans for each young person; and contribute to the ongoing evaluation of the ILP process. Contributing to the development and implementation of the FLS’s objectives and planning. Contributing to the establishment and maintenance of a supportive school environment. Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in working with young people disenfranchised from mainstream education. Have skills and knowledge in teaching processes, framework and practice. Applicants must hold or have the ability to attain a WA Working with Children Check before commencement as per legislation. Current WA Teachers Registration Local travel (including minivan driving) is a requirement of this position therefore it is a Requirement that the applicant hold a current 'C' driver’s license and required to drive a bus Current First Aid or willingness to obtain. All staff are expected to implement self-care strategies and access organizational staff support whenever needed. Proven ability in leading whole school literacy and numeracy programs Ability to run staff professional develop programs for staff Develop and run activities for special celebrations throughout the year to promote inclusion, diversity and the Edmund Rice Story for staff and young people Proven ability to lead teams and coach staff Working collaboratively with the Leadership Team and staff to ensure that all program provisions are culturally appropriate. Able to demonstrate the high-level communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills necessary to be successful in a complex and layered organisational structure. Ability to diagnose problems, foresee potential issues and devise appropriate responses. Ability to lead, work in, and collaborate across teams with integrity and humility.
