Partnering with a leading NFP Healthcare organisation, we're seeking an experienced and values-driven Head of Finance to join a respected healthcare organisation based in Melbourne's eastern suburbs. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring sound financial management, compliance, and strategic support to sustain and grow the organisation's impact.
Leading a small accounting and payroll team, this position will suit someone with strong technical accounting skills, a collaborative leadership style, and the ability to operate strategically across both finance and broader business services.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and management reporting, partnering with senior leaders to align financial planning with organisational strategy.
* Oversee financial operations including cashflow management, reconciliations, payroll, tax, superannuation, and asset registers.
* Provide analysis and insight into operational and activity-based performance to support executive and board decision-making.
* Manage the development of both government and non-government grant applications, assessing feasibility and funding impact.
* Ensure strong financial governance, compliance, and risk management practices, including liaison with auditors and external stakeholders.
* Foster a high-performing and customer-focused finance team culture, balancing day-to-day delivery with continuous improvement.
About You:
* CPA or CA qualified (or equivalent).
* Proven experience in a Head of Finance, Finance Manager, or similar leadership role, ideally within a healthcare, community services, or not-for-profit environment.
* Prior exposure to SME or mid-sized environments, demonstrating the ability to work hands-on while maintaining a strategic lens.
* Strong commercial acumen with the ability to interpret financial and operational data and communicate insights to executives and board members.
* Experience supporting grant or tender applications with feasibility/ viability analysis is highly regarded.
* Skilled across MYOB (preferably Advanced/Acumatica), payroll, and Microsoft Office applications.
* Experience leading an ERP upgrade/ implementation (highly desirable)
* Excellent stakeholder engagement, organisation, and people management skills.
