The Role
Join ABC News in Perth to help elevate the profile of Western Australia's vibrant arts and creative industries. We're looking for a News Reporter – Arts to produce high‐quality journalism across TV, digital, radio and social platforms. You'll be part of a supportive, collaborative newsroom committed to telling stories that reflect the diversity of our audiences locally and nationally.
The Job
5. Research, pitch and produce original Western Australian arts and culture stories across all ABC News platforms.
6. Deliver content that meets ABC editorial standards, audience expectations and platform requirements.
7. Identify strong arts stories with news value, audience relevance and multiplatform potential.
8. Work closely with commissioning editors to generate stories that grow audience engagement.
9. Build and maintain relationships across WA's arts and creative sectors.
10. Collaborate with ABC News TV, radio, digital, social, ABC Radio Perth and ABC Regional teams to maximise reach and impact.
11. Engage with local communities to find stories that reflect Australia's cultural, geographic and socioeconomic diversity.

About You
You're an experienced journalist with a passion for the arts and a strong understanding of Western Australia's creative landscape.
You'll have:
12. Strong initiative and a proven record of finding and producing original stories.
13. Strong news judgement, storytelling ability and excellent written/verbal communication skills.
14. Proven capability to file for digital, radio and television in a fast‐paced newsroom.
15. Comprehensive knowledge of, or a strong interest in, WA arts and culture and experience reporting on creative industries.
16. A current and valid driver's licence is required.
