Remote retention allowance: $1,500 after 1 year of service and $3,000 after 2 years' service

Job Summary
The Trauma Informed Care Practitioner will be based in Tennant Creek and work within the Piliyintinji-ki - Stronger Families Section. The role delivers high‐quality, trauma‐responsive support to children, families and communities, ensuring all services are grounded in safety, trust, choice, collaboration, empowerment and cultural humility. The practitioner collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to reduce retraumatization, promote healing, and embed culturally responsive trauma‐informed care within the organisation.
Responsibilities
* Direct Practice: Conduct trauma‐informed assessments; create safe environments; integrate referral pathways.
* Collaboration & Service Integration: Work with clinicians, caseworkers, educators, health agencies, legal, cultural advisors and community partners; participate in multidisciplinary meetings; advocate for trauma‐informed approaches.
* Training, Education & Capacity Building: Deliver or contribute to trauma‐informed care training; support teams in embedding trauma‐responsive practices; provide reflective practice support or debriefing.
* Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate, confidential case notes; develop training resources and program protocols; contribute to clinical relevance of materials.
* Cultural Safety & Inclusion: Apply culturally responsive inclusive practice; work respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other diverse communities.
Qualifications & Experience
* Tertiary qualified with registration/qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Mental Health, Community Services, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist.
* Post‐graduate training or certification in trauma‐informed practice, somatic therapy or therapeutic modalities.
* Experience in crisis intervention, mental health, family violence, child protection or community development; knowledge of culturally specific healing frameworks, particularly Aboriginal healing approaches.
* Previous experience delivering primary health care services within an Aboriginal community is desirable.
Requirements
* Obtain a National Police Clearance and an NT Working with Children's (Ochre) card before commencement.
