**Job Title:** Network Development Engineer
We're looking for experienced Network Development Engineers to drive the operations of one of the world's largest and complex networks. AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sustain Next-Generation Networks: Support and maintain our next-generation networks, ensuring high standards of safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.
2. Deliver Simple, Sustainable Solutions: Deliver simple, sustainable, and repeatable solutions and processes that reduce operational burden and improve overall efficiency.
3. Partner with Technical Operations: Partner with our broader Technical Operations organization to reduce operational burden and improve collaboration across teams.
4. Ensure Operational Readiness: Work closely with our broader Network Engineering & Deployment teams to ensure operational readiness for new deployments and minimize disruptions to our services.
5. Drive Standards and Compliance: Drive standards across the network and ensure that we are fully compliant to those standards and policies, maintaining the highest level of quality and security.
6. Participate in Event Management: Participate and drive impact mitigation during large-scale events utilizing an established Event Management process, driving corrective actions to completion.
7. Improve Detection Mechanisms: Improve our detection mechanisms by designing and implementing new alerts, identifying and troubleshooting recurring platform issues for full resolution.
8. Create and Review Documentation: Create and review documentation and process regarding recurring issues, new standard operating procedures, knowledge transfer material, etc.
9. Troubleshoot Interconnectivity Issues: Troubleshoot interconnectivity issues, including troubleshooting of network device configuration and low-level application interaction.
10. Identify Opportunities for Efficiency: Identify and drive opportunities to repeatable tasks through creation and maintenance of scripts and tools.
Basic Qualifications
1. Experience in Major Internet Routing Protocols: 2+ years experience and knowledge in a major internet routing protocol (BGP, OSPF, MPLS, ISIS)
2. Excellent IP Fundamentals: Excellent IP fundamentals and experience in the application and troubleshooting of IP.
3. Scripting Experience: Scripting experience in any language.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Experience with Advanced Networking Concepts: Experience with one or more of the following and concepts: Flow control, UDP, HSRP/VRRP/GLBP, DNS, ARP, HTTP, SSL, STP, Trunking, & Port Channeling, IPsec and TLS.
2. Linux/Unix Environment: Experience in working on a Linux/Unix environment.
