About the role Reporting to the National Manager Media and Communications, you will form an important part of a national team that is responsible for creating high quality and engaging content across the ful l range of media and communications channels, as well as providing strategic advice on all internal and external communications and reputational issues.
The role will require flair, creativity, and innovation to discover, create and edit unique content that is engaging and easily understood by targeted audiences across a variety of channels and using a mixture communications technique.
The role will also provide strategic communications support to a range of projects and initiatives as required across the University.
Key Responsibilities Be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of engaging content that tells the University's story, successes and achievements which includes (but not limited to), develop effective corporate communication strategies, organize initiatives and plan events or press conferences; and liaise with media and handle requests for interviews, statements.
Provide strategic advice and insights on a range of communications issues, technologies and opportunities as they emerge.
Identify opportunities and areas for improvement across our activities including new ways of successfully telling our stories and expanding audiences.
Provide vision, creativity and flair to enhance the University's media and communications activities.
Collaborate with colleagues across the University to develop and implement enhancements to the University's media and communications activities and to identify and pursue communications and publications opportunities.
Build and maintain relationships with the mainstream media and key publications to promote our stories to a wide audience.
Coordinate with key stakeholders including colleagues across the University to identify, research and tell engaging stories about the work of the University via a wide variety of communications channels and techniques.
Effective delivery of projects through careful time management to ensure deadlines are met.
Work effectively with colleagues as part of a high performing media and communications team to develop and implement a whole of university media and communications plan including measurable KPIs aligned to the University's strategic goals.
Implement modern, efficient and best practice processes and systems to support the delivery of the strategy and achieve KPIs Qualifications, skills & experience Degree qualification in a relevant discipline (media, publishing and communications) or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
Demonstrated background and experience in media and journalism ( Higher Education sector experience is preferred ).
Strong influencing, communication and presentation skills to achieve high quality outcomes with internal and external stakeholders, demonstrate discretion and enable the handling of highly confidential and sensitive matters.
Demonstrated self-motivation and the ability to work independently and with initiative to lead communications projects.
Proven excellent understanding of the media, publishing and communications professions.
Demonstrated skills and experience in high-level writing, video production, design, layout and publishing using a variety of technologies and platforms.
High level computing skills with proficiency in the MS Office suite including videoconferencing.
Superior relationship building skills with the demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated skills in problem solving and creative thinking to develop solutions to meet a range of business requirements.
Demonstrated strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to lead several events and to deliver to hard deadlines.
