Environmental Governance Role
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to environmental governance and make a positive impact. As a General Assembly member, you will be part of the voting membership and participate in oversight of operations.
The General Assembly is a body of at least 50 people elected for a four-year term. You will not be involved in day-to-day operations or decision-making but will have the power to exercise your vote on important decisions affecting the organisation's direction.
To remain a member and be eligible to vote, all General Assembly members pay a fee.
Key Responsibilities
* Electing Board members;
* High-level supervision of Board performance;
* Accepting the Annual Report; and
* Appointing the external auditor.
Some members of the General Assembly also contribute to organisational governance by joining a Board Subcommittee or Working group. There are six committees and working groups currently including:
1. Finance and Audit Committee.
2. Governance Committee.
3. Nominations Committee.
4. Philanthropy Working Group.
5. Risk Working Group.
6. Generational Vision Working Group (long-term planning group).
We seek individuals with a wide range of skills, experience, and knowledge to bring to this role. The selection criteria include:
* A passion for environmental preservation and commitment to its protection;
* An understanding of the role of members in organisational governance;
* Strategic and business planning and implementation skills;
* Ability to interpret the vision and strategy for future growth;
* Integrity and vision; and
* Willingness to make a positive contribution.
