In 1975, Central Steel Build began as a small family business with a humble, customer focused vision: to purpose build high quality sheds which would stand the test of time. We're now well into our second generation, and while our design and fabrication methods have become more sophisticated with cutting-edge modelling technology added to the mix, we've stayed true to our ideology of continuous improvement.

What You’ll Do
Structural Design & Certification
* Lead design of steel portal frames, slabs, precast elements and structural components
* Carry out modelling, analysis, design calculations and engineering reports
* Prepare Victorian Reg 126 – Certificate of Compliance (Design) documentation
* Ensure all engineering outputs are compliant, accurate and delivered on time
Technical Leadership
* Provide expert guidance to internal teams, clients and external partners
* Mentor and review work from junior/graduate engineers
* Champion engineering standards, accuracy, risk awareness and continuous improvement
Compliance, Site Inspections & Governance
* Ensure designs comply with NCC and Australian Standards (AS/NZS 1170, AS 4100, AS/NZS 4600, AS/NZS 5131 etc.)
* Conduct site inspections for frames, footings, bracing and critical connections
* Prepare inspection reports and oversee non‑conformance close‑out
R&D & Standardisation
* Lead optimisation initiatives for fabrication, installation and material efficiency
* Maintain and evolve engineering templates, design bases and standard details
* Evaluate emerging technologies, software and materials
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
* Align structural intent with Building Design, Projects, Sales/Estimating and Production
* Resolve RFIs and support seamless workflow from concept to install
* Represent CSB professionally with clients, authorities and surveyors
What You Bring
Required
* Bachelor’s degree in civil/structural engineering
* Professional Engineers Registration (Victoria)
* 5+ years’ structural engineering experience
* Proficiency in SpaceGASS, Structural Toolkit, IDEA StatiCa or similar
* Strong working knowledge of NCC and Australian Standards
* Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Preferred
* CPEng and/or RPEQ (or willingness to work towards)
