We are seeking a seasoned commodity professional to track supply and demand fundamentals of the seaborne metallurgical coal and coke market.
About The Role
This critical position will thrive in the rigors of daily deadline and be part of a small but motivated group of researchers.
The successful candidate will have opportunities to interface with and contribute to fundamental research within the global raw materials team.
Ideally, the role will be located in Singapore, but other locations in Australia or Asia may be considered for the right candidate.
About The Team
We provide integrated offerings of market intelligence, price indexes, and forecasting. Energy transition relies on mineral-intensive processes, and understanding dynamics shaping thermal and metallurgical coal, iron ore, scrap, steel, and base metals markets is essential.
Your Responsibilities
* Track supply and demand fundamentals of the seaborne metallurgical coal and coke market.
* Report on metallurgical coal prices on a daily and weekly basis that inform our key metallurgical coal and coke indexes.
* Develop a keen understanding of drivers of pricing, including S&D, supply chain, and derivatives market.
* Report and write breaking market news and in-depth analytical pieces that differentiate our content offering on metallurgical coal and coke.
* Research and write on big picture issues that impact supply side economics, including policy developments, geopolitics, investment climate, and ESG.
* Be a key part of production of the daily metallurgical coal publication.
* Continually develop a strong contact base with sources and maintain strong client and industry relationships.
Your Qualifications
* At least 5 years of experience in the commodity space as a reporter/researcher, including roles as a financial reporter or market analyst.
* A nose for news and an eye for a story would be a good start. We'll train you to write with clarity and competence.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, and an effective team player is a must.
* Strong quantitative skills are advantageous.
* Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
* Ability to work within a team while sometimes operating alone.
* A sense of humour.
