Role Summary:
The role of a Fire Practitioner is to support the implementation of Fine Fuel Management practices to promote and maintain natural and cultural health in specific environments within the regions.
* Work with a team to facilitate the accomplishment of goals as articulated in strategic plans.
* Manage vegetation, including weed control, brush cutting and mowing.
* Maintenance of equipment.
* Participate in managing the health of culturally significant sites according to strategies and goals.
Responsibilities:
Under the direction of a team leader, participate in the preparation and execution of controlled burns. Gather data in the field and assist in the preparation of regular project reports.
Community and Partnerships:
* Strengthen networks for promoting opportunities in fire management with stakeholders and land managers.
* Contribute to events to educate and raise awareness of interests and objectives for fire management and associated projects.
* Provide mentoring to community members, including young people, with the aim of increasing capacity, including decision making in fire management.
