Job Description for Director of People and Culture at Worthy Cause Social Enterprise
Position Summary: As the Director of People and Culture, you will lead the organisation's efforts to maintain a thriving workplace that supports our mission and values. Your role will be pivotal in managing all aspects of human resources and program functions, ensuring alignment with our impact goals, and maintaining a safe, inclusive, and trauma-informed work environment.
Report Line: Managing Director
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic HR Leadership: Develop and implement human resources strategies that support the organisation's overall strategy and objectives. Oversee and ensure the HR programs and initiatives align with our impact goals and values.
2. HR Operations and Compliance: Advise the board on HR and governance matters. Ensure compliance with all employment laws and regulations. Manage employment contracts, HRM platform (Employment Hero), workplace safety, and employment issues.
3. Team and Volunteer Management: Lead a team of HR volunteers responsible for onboarding volunteers, employees, and program participants. Coordinate interviewing and screening processes alongside directors and relevant team members.
4. Culture and Values: Foster a workplace culture that promotes diversity, inclusion, and psychological safety. Champion the organisation's values and ensure they are reflected in HR practices and employee engagement.
5. Training and Development: Oversee training programs, including orientation and ongoing training of staff and volunteers. Support development programs to enhance skills aligned with organisational needs.
6. Performance Management: Implement and oversee performance management processes. Provide guidance and support on HR matters, including career development and counseling.
Workload Expectations:
- Participate in weekly HR operations meetings and director meetings.
- Engage in formal board meetings every 6 weeks.
- Expected workload of 5-7 hours per week, with flexibility for special projects and strategic initiatives.
Probationary Period:
A three-month directorship probation period, after which the board will evaluate performance and integration into the role.
Work Environment and Conditions:
This is a part-time position with a hybrid setup, requiring presence in our kitchens for semi-regular meetings and as needed. Flexibility between working from home and office locations in Heidelberg West and Preston, Victoria.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Employee satisfaction and retention rates.
- Efficiency of onboarding processes.
- Compliance with HR policies and legal standards.
- Success of HR initiatives aligned with organisational goals.
Evaluation and Review:
KPIs will be reviewed quarterly, and annual performance reviews will consider these metrics to evaluate contributions to the organisation's culture and success.
