Challenge conventional wisdom and refuse to take no for an answer.Full-Time | Onsite/HybridAbout the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Security Specialist to strengthen our security posture and ensure our technology environment remains resilient, compliant, and protected against evolving cyber threats. The role will support security operations, risk management, incident response, and uplift of security controls across the organisation.Key ResponsibilitiesMonitor, analyse, and respond to cyber security alerts, incidents, and vulnerabilities.Implement and maintain security tools including SIEM, EDR, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and identity management systems.Conduct security risk assessments, gap analysis, and compliance checks aligned to Australian standards (e.g., Essential Eight, ISO 27001).Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and technical documentation.Support cloud security governance across Azure/AWS environments.Perform regular penetration testing coordination and vulnerability remediation.Lead root-cause analysis and post-incident reviews for security events.Implement security best practices in network, infrastructure, and application environments.Collaborate with IT and project teams to embed security into solution design and change management.Provide staff awareness training and guidance on cyber hygiene and secure practices.Ensure compliance with regulatory obligations, internal audits, and industry security benchmarks.Skills & Experience RequiredDegree in Information Technology, Cyber Security, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).3–5+ years’ experience in a Cyber Security or Security Operations role.Strong understanding of security frameworks and controls (NIST, Essential Eight, ISO 27001).Hands-on experience with:SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk, Sentinel)Endpoint security (EDR/XDR)Network security toolsCloud security (AWS/Azure)Experience in incident response and threat hunting.Ability to analyse logs, detect anomalies, and recommend remediation steps.Knowledge of identity & access management, MFA, SSO.Strong understanding of malware analysis, phishing defence, and threat intelligence.Excellent communication and documentation skills.Preferred / Desirable CertificationsCISSP, CISM, CISACEH, CompTIA Security+Microsoft/AWS security certificationsSANS/GIAC certificationsThis job description is a close guideline as to what you will be asked to do in your role.
