What is the role?

Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Communications and Marketing Officer.

This advertisement is to create a merit pool to fill current and future vacancies as they arise over the next 12 months.

As a Marketing Officer you will identify and drive opportunities to promote the AFP to the broader Australian community. You will be a progressive and creative thinker, aligning brand initiatives to business needs and desired outcomes. You will work collaboratively with a range stakeholders and vendors to bring campaigns/ branding initiatives to life, within budget, timeframes and delivered to an exceptional quality.

As a Communications Officer you will work with AFP business areas and commands to establish and deliver communication solutions, ranging from one-off initiatives requiring planning and promotion, to large scale programs of work requiring comprehensive marketing and communication strategies with multi-channel delivery over a longer period.

The communications capability at the AFP is located within the Communications and Customs branch, and is made up of three distinct sections:
Strategic Communications - responsible for communications strategy development, implementation and evaluation across a variety of platforms for AFP business areas.
Marketing Communications - responsible for market research; raising awareness and understanding the AFP and its role within the community; promoting the AFP as an employer of choice and attracting a diverse range of applicants to the agency through marketing, outreach and partnerships.

You will play a pivotal role in contributing to a positive workplace culture through collaboration with colleagues, maintaining a results focus for broader team success, and respecting and valuing the different perspectives and talents of colleagues, internal and external stakeholders.

You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.

What will you do?

**As a Marketing Officer you will**:
analyse the market and seek opportunities to build and enhance the AFP brand's image
support the implementation of a long term brand strategy, outreach plans and marketing campaigns
devise, develop and implement marketing projects and initiatives designed to ensure growth of the AFP brand
establish, build and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders and vendors to deliver on intended outcomes
lead initiatives to raise the AFP profile to make it a household brand and an employer of choice.

**As a Communications Officer you will**:
engage with internal and external stakeholders to understand communication needs and target audience(s)
develop and implement communication strategies/plans, articulating contemporary and relevant communications solutions to drive desired behavioural change and business objectives
establish, build and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders and vendors to deliver on intended outcomes
work with business areas to champion and drive initiatives to educate and inform the community about a range of Commonwealth crimes, and build confidence in the AFP
