Job Description About the role Sydney Airport is one of Australia’s most critical infrastructure hubs — and maintaining its civil assets to world-class standards is essential to keeping operations safe, seamless, and efficient. As Civil Maintenance Manager, you’ll take the lead in managing a diverse portfolio of infrastructure, from airfield pavements and bridges to stormwater systems and marine structures. Your work will directly impact the experience of millions of passengers and the performance of airlines and airport operations. This is an essential role in supporting efficient airport operations. You will manage the airport civil maintenance, driving innovation, safety, and sustainability across the airport’s infrastructure. In this role, you will have the opportunity to… Lead the delivery of civil maintenance services across airfield pavements, road networks, bridges, and marine structures, ensuring safety, compliance, and operational excellence. Manage contractor performance and oversee CAPEX/OPEX budgets, aligning outcomes with strategic and financial targets. Own and enhance the Civil Asset Management Plan and Airport Pavement Management System, driving data-informed decision-making. Oversee airside grounds maintenance, including FOD response, landscaping, and litter control, to maintain a safe and efficient operating environment. Provide expert technical advice and collaborate on the planning and delivery of minor capital works. Lead runway friction testing and support CASA audit responses, ensuring regulatory compliance and continuous improvement. About you You’re a qualified Civil Engineer with a strong track record in civil and pavement maintenance, ideally within aviation or infrastructure environments. You bring: At least 5 years’ experience in contract management and pavement maintenance. Proven leadership and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience supervising contracted labour. Strong technical knowledge of civil construction, asset management, and safety and quality systems. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills, with a high attention to detail. A collaborative mindset and ability to work across teams and with external partners. A NSW Driver’s License and a commitment to safety, service, and continuous improvement.
