The Role

We are currently seeking several motivated and experienced Kitchenhands to join our growing team and help us expand our business. As a key member of the Beyond Broome team, you will play a critical role in delivering top-tier hospitality services, contributing to our success, and helping create memorable experiences for our guests.

Key Responsibilities

1. Prepare and inspect vegetables, meats, and other ingredients for a variety of menu items.

2. Assist in the preparation of salads, side dishes and other simple menu offerings.

3. Wash, peel, and chop vegetables, and slice meats for daily production.

4. Support Cooks with simple cooking tasks such as heating food items, grilling meats and assembling dishes.

5. Ensure food preparation areas and utensils are cleaned and organised to meet hygiene and food safety standards.

6. Regularly clean kitchen surfaces, equipment, and workspaces to maintain a safe and hygienic environment.

7. Wash and sanitise dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment, and properly store them after use.

8. Assist in stocktaking and restocking ingredients, ensuring proper storage and rotation to prevent spoilage.

9. Occasionally assist with front-of-house duties during busy periods to ensure customer satisfaction.

10. Prepare and package takeaway orders accurately.

11. Handle waste disposal, keeping the kitchen area tidy and ensuring all waste is sorted and disposed of properly.

Requirements

1. Qualifications: A relevant qualification in hospitality is recommended, however, not necessary.

2. Skills: Knowledge of food preparation, and food safety and hygiene practices. Proficiency in chopping, slicing, and dicing vegetables and meats with speed and accuracy.

3. Experience: 1-2 years of relevant experience. Prior work in a commercial kitchen is advantageous.

4. Physical stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and handle the physical demands of a busy kitchen environment.

5. Attention to Detail: A keen eye for cleanliness and a commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and organisation.

6. Problem-Solving Skills: Proactive problem-solving abilities to address guest concerns and resolve issues promptly and effectively. The capacity to handle challenging situations calmly and professionally.

7. Communication Skills: Good communication skills. Fluency in multiple languages is a plus, especially in a multicultural setting.

8. Adaptability: Flexibility to work irregular hours, including weekends and holidays, and adjust to changing guest needs.

9. Industry Knowledge: Understand of hospitality industry trends, particularly in the Western Australia region, is advantageous.
