7 Chefs Pty Ltd is one of Australia's leading manufacturers of fresh pasta and pasta sauces, supplying high-quality products across Retail, Foodservice, and Industrial channels. Based in a state-of-the-art facility in Melbourne's north, we're expanding our New Product Development team and looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Food Technologist to help drive innovation and growth.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the CEO, this full-time role offers autonomy and variety, working across all stages of product development—from concept to launch. You'll be part of a small, collaborative team focused on creating value-added food products for the Australian market.
Key Responsibilities:
· Recipe development and refinement for new and existing products
· Managing NPD projects from concept through to full-scale manufacturing
· Sensory evaluation and analysis of trial and existing products
· Preparation of bench samples and coordination of factory trials
· Development and maintenance of product specifications and documentation
· Ensuring compliance with FSANZ regulations and food safety standards
· Collaborating with internal teams to deliver high-quality outcomes
About You
To be successful in this role, you'll bring a mix of technical expertise, creativity, and a genuine passion for food.
Essential Requirements:
* Minimum 3–4 years' experience in food manufacturing product development
* Previous experience in pasta manufacturing, including handling, processing, and packaging of fresh pasta products.
* Hands-on experience in the production of pasta and sauces within a food manufacturing environment.
* Experience in batch production, quality control, and food safety standards related to pasta and sauce manufacturing.
* Demonstrated experience in preparing and handling a variety of pasta dishes and sauces.
* Strong understanding of pasta types, cooking techniques, and sauce pairings.
* Relevant tertiary qualification in Food Science or related field
* Full working rights in Australia
* Strong knowledge of FSANZ regulations, HACCP, and food safety standards
* Experience with specification documentation (e.g., PIFs, Coles Fusion)
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
* Proficiency with contemporary business tools and systems
Preferred:
* Valid driver's license
* Ability to commence within 4 weeks of offer
