About the role:
This hands-on role plays a vital part in the provision of high-quality, person-centred care for our residents. As a Diversional Therapist / Activities Officer, you will support meaningful social engagement by developing and facilitating activity programs that enhance wellbeing, foster community connections, and celebrate the individuality of each resident.
You will create activities that reflect resident interests, abilities and personal strengths, while supporting inclusion and participation within both the facility and the broader community.
What you'll be doing:
* Plan, develop and facilitate a diverse and engaging resident activity program in consultation with the NUM and Allied Health team.
* Create activities tailored to resident interests, individual characteristics, abilities and limitations.
* Encourage and support social interaction among residents and between residents and the community.
* Liaise with community groups, clubs and service providers to enhance activity offerings and community involvement.
* Build strong rapport with individuals and groups, supporting a warm and inclusive environment.
* Communicate effectively with residents, families, carers and team members.
* Complete resident documentation, including activity care plans and social/activity components of ACFI requirements.
* Work collaboratively with other Activity Officers, Mobility Assistants, Physiotherapists, Registered Nurses and care staff to deliver person-centred care.
* Promote and maintain communication with families and carers regarding the activity program.
* Demonstrate commitment to ongoing learning through participation in relevant internal and external training opportunities.
