Key Responsibilities of an Engineering Lead
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineering Lead to join our team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring the operational excellence and engineering leadership of our critical platform while fostering collaboration with product-led delivery squads.
As an Engineering Lead, your key responsibilities will include:
* Coaching, mentoring and supporting engineers in their career growth and professional development;
* Conducting regular 1:1s and career conversations, ensuring alignment between individual aspirations and business needs;
* Fostering a culture of accountability, innovation and continuous improvement within the platform team.
Additionally, you will be responsible for:
* Implementing engineering frameworks that promote scalability, efficiency and resilience in platform operations;
* Leading the daily operations of the platform, ensuring high availability, reliability and performance;
* Managing on-call rotation schedules and ensuring seamless triage and escalation of production support requests;
* Taking ownership of incident response, root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives;
* Developing, tracking and reporting on availability metrics to identify trends and proactively enhance system performance;
* Ensuring compliance with technology risk policies, maintaining robust security and operational controls;
* Defining and enforcing operational readiness criteria for new releases, ensuring smooth deployments and acceptance.
Requirements for Success
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
* Proven experience in managing operations for a technology or payments platform, with at least 3 years with an operations management role;
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead and motivate teams in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment;
* Experience establishing and managing 24/7 operational support teams, including staffing and scheduling;
* Strong technical background, with the ability to triage complex production issues and collaborate with engineering teams to resolve them.
