Southern River College (SRC) is seeking an inspiring and dynamic educational leader to take up a position as Head of Learning Area (HoLA) – Performing and Visual Arts. This represents an exciting opportunity for you as an instructional leader to possess the vision, experience, professional knowledge and skills required to grow and continue to shape this learning area.

Our college caters for over 1200 students from year 7 – 12. Our programs reflect our belief that all students are individual and come with different learning needs. The Role

As HoLA - Arts provides high quality leadership to staff within the Arts learning area. As the successful applicant you should be an exemplary classroom practitioner who can lead teaching and learning. You should possess an excellent understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum, assessment and reporting requirements for Years 7 to 12.

We are seeking an exceptional leader to spearhead a dynamic team dedicated to embedding curriculum and performance requirements to the highest standards. The successful applicant should possess a proven track record of driving excellence in educational settings and should have the ability to inspire and motivate a team to cater for the needs of students in a culturally diverse setting. The successful applicant should be a strategic thinker who can seamlessly integrate innovative curriculum designs with rigorous performance requirements. The leader will be responsible for fostering a collaborative environment, promoting continuous improvement and maintaining a focus on achieving high-calibre outcomes for staff and students.

The successful applicant will ideally have high standards of professionalism and embrace opportunities for collaboration and partnerships within and beyond the college community. The ability to work positively and effectively in teams and be open to new thinking is highly desirable.

As an expert leader, you should have a commitment to excellence in teaching and engage in ongoing self-reflection. Another key attribute is the ability to create environments conducive to learning and provide educational opportunities that are purposeful and relevant, catering for different student learning needs.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position

* obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and
* consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
