The Role

The Infrastructure SME plays a critical role in managing and maintaining Access4’s backend environments. The primary goal of this role is to ensure 99.999% system uptime while driving continuous improvement across all system functions and components.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform daily maintenance and upkeep of backend systems.
- Drive constant improvements and innovations to strengthen system resilience.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to the engineering team and wider Access4 organisation, providing expert advice and solutions.
- Contribute to the engineering and R&D; functions to support the company’s strategic goals.
- Serve as the on-call contact for after-hours events and system emergencies.

In high-pressure situations, you remain calm, focused, and solution-oriented, ensuring stability and continuity in critical systems. You bring strong organisational skills and a disciplined approach to managing both day-to-day tasks and long-term projects, consistently delivering high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications & Experience

- Bachelor’s degree in IT or a related field.
- Full working rights in Australia (no sponsorship available).
- 5+ years’ experience in Linux administration, including kernel and module-level expertise.
- 5+ years’ experience managing on-premises environments.
- 3+ years’ experience with Docker or other containerisation technologies.
- 3+ years’ experience with Ansible or similar automation tools.
- 3+ years’ experience developing in Python (additional programming languages highly regarded).
- 3+ years’ experience with virtualisation technologies.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP network stacks and monitoring systems.
- Experience with database administration (MySQL, PostgreSQL, or similar) preferred.
- Knowledge of VoIP technologies (SIP) desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Organised, methodical, and disciplined approach to operations and project delivery.
- Proficiency in the tools and technologies listed above.
