Role Overview
Joining in early 2026, this is a 12-month contract for a qualified lawyer with a passion for Privacy. Acting in a standalone capacity this role will have responsibility for Privacy obligations across the APAC region, consisting of 5 differing regulatory jurisdictions. The successful candidate will bring recent knowledge of Australian privacy laws and will champion on-going uplift of the Privacy framework. The role is responsible for documenting and testing process controls and collaborating with global process owners and senior management. Another exciting aspect will be leading the response to privacy-related complaints and data breaches, as well as liaising with privacy regulators in APAC (in consultation with the APAC Chief Legal Counsel).
Skills And Experience
* Degree in law, 5+ PQE preferred
* 3+ years of experience in privacy, data protection, privacy law and security
* Prior Insurance or Financial Services experience from private practice or in-house (FS experience essential)
* Demonstrate deep understanding of Australian privacy regulations
* Understanding of issues relating to use of personal data as part of analytics/ emerging and complex technologies (incl. AI)
* Experience working with Information Security teams, third-party privacy risk management, and Data Governance

This team works three days per week in their Sydney offices. Sponsorship is not on offer and prior Australia legal and privacy experience is essential.
