Recruiting Assistant Head of Early Learning Centre - Full-time (1.0 FTE)
This Position of Responsibility (POR) is reviewed and renewed annually and is not an ongoing position.
The role attracts a responsibility allowance in line with College policy.
The successful candidate will commence as soon as possible. Appropriate reference and background checks will be undertaken for the shortlisted applicants.
About the Role
The Assistant Head of ELC plays a key role in supporting the Head of ELC with the day‐to‐day operations of the Centre. You will ensure high standards of educational practice, provide guidance to educators and trainees, and maintain compliance across all rooms. The role combines leadership, administration, family engagement and operational management.
You will act as the deputy in the absence of the Head of ELC or Nominated Supervisor and help drive continuous improvement across the Centre through reflective practice, mentorship and regulatory compliance.
This role is suited to someone who thrives in a fast‐paced environment, communicates confidently with families and staff, and is dedicated to maintaining an inclusive, safe and high‐quality early learning experience.
Key Responsibilities
* Support daily operations, staffing, rosters and regulatory compliance.
* Mentor and guide educators, trainees and new staff.
* Assist with program planning and documentation aligned with EYLF, VEYLDF and NQS.
* Support enrolments, tours, family enquiries and digital records (Xplor).
* Contribute to the Quality Improvement Plan and Assessment & Rating processes.
* Maintain a safe, inclusive and engaging environment for children.
* Build strong professional relationships with families and staff.
Key Selection Criteria
* Diploma or higher qualification in Early Childhood Education.
* Strong knowledge of National Law & Regulations, Child Safe Standards and EYLF/VEYLDF.
* Experience in early childhood leadership or senior educator roles.
* Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to act as Responsible Person/Nominated Supervisor when required.
* Current First Aid, Asthma & Anaphylaxis training.
* Experience with Xplor or similar systems (preferred).

* Relevant tertiary degree and qualifications.
* Hold an employee WWCC.
