Why this job might be your next smart move:
- Make your mark in a business that wants you to own the numbers – not just report them.
- Hands-on and high-impact: From inventory and WIP to ERP and reporting – you will be across everything.
- Supportive leadership, real progression: Clear pathway from intermediate to senior with a manager who values growth and development.
The Role:
This hybrid Management/Company Accountant role isn't just about closing the books. It's a commercial, hands-on position where you'll drive clarity in cost structures, reconcile inventory and WIP, partner with procurement, and influence decisions that affect operational spend.
Initially, your focus will be 80% management/cost accounting, shifting to a more even 50/50 split with financial reporting over the next 3–4 months. You'll be diving into standard costing, WIP reconciliation, ERP (Epicor) enhancements, inventory oversight, variance analysis, budgeting, and more.
You'll work directly with the Head of Finance/Shared Services and partner cross-functionally with purchasing, admin and operations.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Maintain and analyse standard costs across materials, labour, and overheads.
- Reconcile inventory/WIP to GL and track movements.
- Review BOMs, supplier pricing, and procurement data for cost accuracy.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and deliver monthly management reports.
- Drive data insights that actually guide decision making – not just fill spreadsheets.
- Handle BAS prep, journals, and maintain the fixed asset register.
What We're Looking For:
- Proven experience in manufacturing standard cost accounting and WIP/GL reconciliation
- Strong ERP experience or adaptability (Epicor preferred) + intermediate - advanced Excel skills
- CPA/CIMA qualified or working towards – with the confidence to influence and challenge
- Someone who can partner with operations and procurement, not sit in a silo
- A self-starter who can spot inefficiencies and actually fix them
The Business:
This is a regional manufacturing business with scale, smarts and stable leadership. The finance team is lean but effective – so you'll have influence. They value flexibility, and while there's no handholding, there's also no red tape slowing good ideas down.
