Job Description
The Client Affairs Service plays a crucial role within Adult Social Care & Safeguarding by providing support to vulnerable individuals who lack the mental capacity to manage their own finances. As a court-appointed Deputy or Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) approved Appointee, we act in their best interests.
Our service aims to enhance the wellbeing of our customers while ensuring their safety from financial abuse and preserving their independence and choice.
Main Responsibilities
We have a dedicated administrative team that works tirelessly to manage clients' finances effectively. As a member of the team, you will:
* Liaise closely with the client, their carers, family, and friends to promote their independence.
* Manage all aspects of the client's finances, including utility bills, bank accounts, occupational pensions, DWP benefits, and investments.
The Ideal Candidate
Working within The Client Affairs Service requires strong teamwork, excellent organisational skills, and proficiency in IT systems. You will also need:
* A thorough understanding of the Mental Capacity Act and its application to Deputyship.
* Experience working with vulnerable adults who lack mental capacity to manage their own finances and property.
* To plan and prioritise work efficiently, meeting deadlines and working under pressure.
* Administrative or finance experience.
* Familiarity with benefits and pensions payable by DWP.
* Ability to operate computer-based information systems and Microsoft Office packages.
* Experience working with internal and external customers to deliver an exceptional quality service.
