Karadi Aboriginal Corporation has an exciting opportunity for two Health Promotion Officer roles to join our dynamic health team. Flexible work arrangements (full time/ part time) are available.

1. Position Objective

These roles are responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating health promotion initiatives aimed at improving the health and well-being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals and communities. Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, this role will apply evidence-based strategies to address public health issues and reduce health inequities.

2. Responsibilities

Program Development & Implementation

· Develop an annual health promotion calendar that aligns with identified health and wellbeing priorities and funding requirements.

· Design, deliver, and evaluate health promotion campaigns, programs, and interventions targeting priority populations.

· Apply health promotion theories and models to guide program planning and execution.

· Ensure all materials and resources developed are culturally safe and appropriate.

Community Engagement

· Collaborate with community groups, schools, workplaces, and other agencies to build partnerships and promote health initiatives.

· Participate in and run events, facilitate workshops, forums, and training sessions.

· Advocate for health-enabling environments and policies.

· Provide referrals and support clients to access health services

Research & Evaluation

· Collect and analyse data to assess community needs and program effectiveness.

· Monitor, document, and report on program outcomes in line with funding and strategic objectives.

· Stay current with emerging public health trends and evidence.

Communication & Promotion

· Develop and distribute promotional materials through various media channels, including social media, posters, website, newsletters, and face-to-face interactions.

· Prepare reports as required.

· Undertake management and distribution of all 715 annual health checks incentives.

· Professionally represent Karadi.

· Any other duties directed by the Team Leader Health or the CEO.

3. Qualifications and Competencies

· Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply.

· Certificate IV, Diploma or tertiary qualification in health promotion, public health, health science, community services or related field.

· Experience working with people from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

· Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating health promotion programs.

· Strong understanding of the social determinants of health and health equity principles.

· Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

· Ability to manage competing demands and work under pressure.

· Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for clients, ensuring policies and procedures are followed.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Strong organisational and project management skills.

· Current Working with Vulnerable People Card and National Police Check (or willingness to obtain).

· Ensure accurate and timely record-keeping, data entry, and reporting as required.
