Audio Software + DSP Engineer
Overview
We're hiring an Audio Software Developer to join our software team and work alongside our senior developer responsible for Pistil (our VST plugin), other software applications, and desktop software.
You'll contribute to cross platform audio software development using JUCE, helping bring our embedded synth engine to desktop formats and building tools for our growing user community. This is a supporting role where you'll work under senior guidance while taking real ownership of defined features and tasks.
We don't care about your formal credentials. We care about what you've actually built. If you've shipped a plugin, contributed to open source audio projects, or built something weird and wonderful with JUCE in your spare time, that matters more than years on a resume.
You'll need to be comfortable working independently while staying connected through daily standups and weekly WIP meetings. Our team is distributed globally, so clear async communication is important.
What You'll Do
Develop and maintain audio plugins using JUCE (VST3, AU, AAX). Translate and adapt embedded C++ code for desktop platforms. Build cross platform applications for Mac and Windows. Test across major DAWs (Ableton, Logic, Pro Tools, FL Studio, etc.). Support web application development as we expand (JavaScript, Python for prototyping). Participate in daily standups and weekly WIP meetings. Take ownership of defined tasks while senior developers focus on architecture and complex DSP work.
What You Bring
Strong C++ skills. JUCE experience (shipped something, even as a hobby project). Understanding of audio plugin development workflows. Familiarity with cross platform development (Mac, Windows). Interest in synthesizers, sound design, or music production. Ability to work independently while being a good team player. Clear communication in English.
Nice to Have
DSP knowledge (filtering, modulation, synthesis, effects). Experience with sample based instruments or synth engines. JavaScript and Python for web/prototyping work. You're a musician or producer who understands the user perspective. You've built audio tools people actually use.
What We Offer
The chance to build tools used by some of the biggest names in music. Orchid has already been adopted by artists including Kid Cudi, Fred again.., Diplo, Janelle Monáe, Ryan Tedder, Madison Beer, Logic, and Gracie Abrams. Our first 4,000 units sold out in minutes, and TIME Magazine named Orchid one of the Best Inventions of 2025.
You'll join a small, focused team where your code ships directly to musicians around the world. No layers of bureaucracy, no waiting months to see your work in production. You'll be working on Pistil (our VST plugin), virtual Orchid applications, and future software that brings our hardware synth engine to desktop and beyond.
We're a distributed team that values autonomy and async communication. Daily standups keep us aligned, but you'll have the freedom to structure your work around your life.
