Organisational Context
east Victoria across an area of 20,000 square kilometres. The service delivery area is bound by Corryong, Yarrawonga,
Benalla, and Dartmouth. We operate 21 water treatment facilities and 22 wastewater treatment plants that service most
towns across the region. Over 200 full time equivalent staff are employed at our centres in Wodonga, Wangaratta, Benalla,
Yarrawonga, Corryong, Beechworth, Mount Beauty, and Myrtleford.
Our operations are overseen by the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) on behalf of the
Minister for Water, and the Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF) on behalf of the Treasurer. We continue to invest in
innovative and long-term capital projects which contribute to the health and well-being of current and future generations.

Position Objectives
The Water Quality Officer:
- Assists with the coordination of delivering safe drinking water, water resource management and catchment
management services.
- Ensures implementation of operational systems improvements in relation to drinking water compliance, strategy,
and general product quality management.
- Assists with project work that aligns with the organisation’s system improvement plans.
Key Responsibility Areas
- Contribute to the provision of safe and reliable drinking water to customers across North East Victoria through your
passion for safe drinking water, expertise in water quality and capability for problem resolution.
- Meet key legislative compliance in relation to Safe Drinking Water requirements and provide support in
coordination of improvement programs.
- Deliver projects relating to water quality, water resources, catchment management and environmental management
using principles of project management and
- Develop relationships within the operations group, and other relevant corporation staff to ensure implemented
systems change management processes.
- Promote and foster cooperation with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders and customers to ensure
water quality objectives are met.
- Assist with developing monitoring programs and metrics to inform broader business decisions, operational
performance, and policy direction.
Organisational Relationships
This role reports to the Team Leader Water Systems and liaises with all internal stakeholders, peers in water corporations or
local government, government agencies and members of the public.
Accountability and Extent of Authority
- The freedom to act is governed by policies, objectives, and budgets with regular reporting to ensure achievement
of goals and objectives.
- Accountable to the Team Leader Water Systems for completion of key responsibilities as detailed.
- Accountable for the quality, accuracy and effectiveness of advice and recommendations provided and acted upon.
- Input into policy development relevant to the business unit.

Qualifications and Experience
- Experience in management systems, with knowledge of Quality Management Systems and/or Australian Drinking
Water Guidelines.
- Experience and knowledge relating to delivery of safe drinking water services and/or blue green algal management
and/or risk management systems and their application.
- Qualification in Science and/or Engineering or experience in water quality assessment, natural resource
management, catchment management or water treatment processes.
