The Division of Medical Services at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Nurse Practitioner (Rapid Access Service Cardiology) to join their team on a temporary basis.

Your opportunity
The Nurse Practitioner Rapid Access Service (RAS) for Cardiology is a new and exciting position that provides an opportunity to contribute to the development of an innovative model of care, delivering improved services within the Cardiology Care Unit, Department of Medicine of the Mackay Hospital and Health Service.
As the NP cardiology RAS portfolio is a new role within MHHS, the purpose of this role is to build the scope and trust of the position within the Health Service, while simultaneously improving patient access, opportunities for care, clinical processes, and ongoing development of the service.
The NP Rapid Access Service for Cardiology provide advanced and extended clinical care to known cardiology patients of the MHHS. This flexible service model seeks to engage patients via multiple modalities including face-to-face, telephone and telehealth to ensure timely access to care. The NP will function as part of a multidisciplinary team including those within Qld Health & other government departments as well as non-government agencies.
The Nurse Practitioner provides effective autonomous and accountable health care that incorporates application of high-level knowledge and skills at an advanced level of nursing practice, including assessment and management of clients to ensure safe and optimal care.
About the Team
The Cardiology Care Unit, Department of Medicine of the Mackay Hospital and Health Service is expanding to include a Nurse Practitioner (NP)/Nurse Practitioner Candidate (NPC) and Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) with the goal of facilitating rapid access to assessment and care for cardiology patients. Cardiology patients may be reviewed within the Cardiology Care Unit, Specialist Outpatients Department or via telehealth services to where possible prevention of Emergency Department presentations and prevent hospital admission where practical. The NP will work as part of a broader multidisciplinary team to provide patient focused goal driven care.
The Rapid Access Medical Cardiology NP will report operationally to the Nursing Director of Division of Medical Services and clinically to the Clinical Director of Medical Services.
