**The opportunity**:
We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled General Manager, Infrastructure and Facilities to join our management team.
In this role you will be responsible for the operation, upkeep and building services of all buildings located at the Baker Institute including sites across Melbourne, Alice Springs and Hoppers Crossing, as well as to the Alfred Research Alliance partners (Monash University, Alfred Health and AMREP AS), and any additional buildings, facilities and services which the Institute may from time to time acquire.
A key component of this role is to provide a safe and secure working environment conducive to productive research and associated activities, and one that is user friendly to clients and other users of the buildings.
**Duties**:
In this role you will be expected to:
- Providing input to the Institute's strategic planning processes.
- Developing cyclical maintenance management plans.
- Overseeing all building and facilities operations including but not limited to:
- planned and emergency maintenance
- develop specifications for outsourcing of essential services, select providers, manage services contracts and contractors
- coordinate and manage major and minor projects and any construction work.
- Develop and manage all department finance and budgetary requirements.
- Manage a small team of key facilities management staff.
**Skills and experience**:
You will have:
- University degree in Engineering, Buildings and/or Architecture.
- Significant experience in buildings and facilities management (in buildings being utilised for research, education, or health activities).
- Demonstrated record of managing major and minor projects.
- Broad knowledge of providing maintenance, security, engineering services.
- Strong client orientation in services provision.
- Proven capacity for effecting problem solutions within tight time frames.
