In This Role You Will Have The Following Accountabilities
* Assess development applications and ensure compliance with planning policies and Council's strategic framework.
* Liaise effectively with stakeholders including the public, developers, and government agencies.
* Provide professional planning advice and support the preparation of growth strategies and policies.
* Deliver high-quality customer service in line with the Shire's Customer Service Charter.
* Promote and maintain workplace health and safety in accordance with legislation and Shire policies.
* Uphold the Shire's values, Code of Conduct, and legislative obligations in all work activities.
Preferred Candidates
* Working towards a qualification in Town Planning, or similar.
* Demonstrated understanding of how to assess development applications.
* Knowledge of the principles and practice of sustainable development.
* Demonstrated ability to provide clear advice and assistance on matters of a technical and specialised nature to the public and other officers in the department and organisation.
* Ability to set priorities and produce work that is timely, accurate and of a high professional standard.
* Sound interpersonal skills, including excellent oral, written and communication skills.
* Negotiation and conflict resolution skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
* A level of computer literacy appropriate to the position.
* 'C' class driver's licence.
