About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Work Health and Safety (WHS) Manager to join our team at our Lobethal processing plant. You will take the lead in promoting and embedding a culture of 'Safety First and Always,' ensuring safety remains at the forefront of all operations.
You will take ownership of the WHS Management System, driving continuous improvement and compliance with ISO 45001 and the Performance Standards for Self-Insured Employers.
This role reports directly to the Plant Manager and you'll be a trusted leader, providing expert advice, strategic direction, and hands-on support to maintain a safe and compliant work environment across the plant.
Key Responsibilities
* Drive a culture of 'Safety First and Always.
* Oversee the development, implementation, and improvement of the WHS Management System.
* Drive WHS compliance and best practices in alignment with legislation and company policies.
* Work collaboratively with management, supervisors, and workers to ensure a safe workplace.
* Conduct hazard and risk assessments, ensuring risk controls are effectively implemented.
* Facilitate WHS training and education programs for employees and contractors.
* Oversee incident investigations, audits, and corrective actions to improve safety performance.
* Manage emergency response plans, first aid services, and injury management programs.
* Ensure the company's Drug & Alcohol Testing and Audiometric Testing programs are compliant.
* Lead and coordinate WHS Committees and ensure active employee consultation and engagement.
About You
* Tertiary qualifications in Work Health & Safety or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
* Minimum 5 years' WHS experience in a manufacturing/production environment.
* Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, regulations, and best practices.
* Experience with Self-Insured Employer requirements is highly desirable.
* Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
* Experience conducting incident investigations, hazard assessments, and safety audits.
* Ability to deliver practical WHS advice and training to management and employees.
* First Aid qualification is essential.
* Additional certifications such as ICAM Investigation, Confined Space Entry, or Drug Testing are a plus.
