Sovereign Lives is seeking an experienced Female Disability Support Worker to join the team for positions available in: Geraldton Effective Immediately
We are looking to build a team for a 1:1 support participant of competent healthcare workers who possess the right empathy, interpersonal skills, ethics, and work experience with participants living with intellectual, physical disabilities as well as mental health issues.
About You
To be successful in this role, you must:
* MUST have a minimum of 1 year experience in disability support
* Be reliable with a strong work ethic
* Take pride in delivering personal care with dignity and respect
* Have a happy and bubbly personality
* Be able to build rapport easily with both participants and co-workers
* Be flexible, strong, and resilient when dealing with challenging situations
* Be proactive in taking initiative and participating in team meetings/training
* Be willing and able to provide support on an urgent basis, irregular hours, or on-call, as per your availability
* Demonstrate leadership skills – experience as a Team Leader is highly regarded for future opportunities with Sovereign Lives
You will be responsible for (but not limited to):
* Supporting participants with personal hygiene, self-care, meal preparation, and general domestic duties
* Ensuring cleanliness and safety in participants' homes
* Assisting participants with community participation and engagement
* Providing support for social/recreational activities and community access
* Completing accurate and timely shift progress notes
* Building emotional, positive, and professional relationships with clients
* Maintaining clear and professional boundaries at all times
* Behavioural Support & Emotional Support
Requirements for this Role
* Experience working with mental illness and intellectual disability is essential
* Experience with Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) is preferred
* Minimum Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) or equivalent
* NDIS Worker Screening Check or willing/able to obtain
* Minimum 2 years' experience working in the disability sector
* Current First Aid & CPR Certificate
* Current National Police Check
* Current Working with Children Check
* Valid Australian Driver's Licence and comprehensively insured, roadworthy vehicle
* Right to work in Australia
* Triple COVID-19 vaccination status (3 doses required)
Additional Information
* Must be available flexibly
* Experience in community aged care or a Certificate III in Aged Care is desirable
* You must be able to represent our company with professionalism, pride, and compassionate care on every shift
