HSEQ Coordinator
Victoria | Part-time (3–4 days/week) | Construction - Fitout + Refurbishment
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced HSEQ Coordinator to support and strengthen our Quality, Safety and Environmental (QSE) framework within our Victorian Construction business.
This role is responsible for maintaining compliance, driving continual improvement, and supporting the business through a transition to new QSE software platforms over the next six months. Reporting to the State Manager and Director, the role will work closely with project teams, site personnel, and shared services to embed a strong, practical safety culture across the business.
This is a part-time role (3–4 days per week) with the opportunity to grow into a full-time position over the next two years.
Key Responsibilities
QSE Systems & Compliance
* Drive continual improvement of the QSE Management System, including migration to a new QSE compliance platform
* Manage all QSE compliance obligations in line with statutory, regulatory, and certification requirements
* Monitor, measure, and report on QSE performance, KPIs, and objectives
* Act as the Management Representative for all QSE-related matters
Risk, Safety & Environment
* Identify, assess, and control business risks in accordance with HIRAC processes
* Investigate incidents and hazards, identifying opportunities for prevention and risk mitigation
* Conduct safety walks, site audits, and toolbox talks across construction sites
* Develop, implement, and review Emergency Management Plans and conduct drills as required
* Ensure worker health surveillance programs are maintained (e.g. hearing tests)
Audits & Assurance
* Develop and implement the annual audit program, including unplanned risk-based audits
* Actively participate in third-party audits (e.g. ISO / BSI) and ensure findings are actioned and closed out
* Maintain ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 accreditations
Training & Capability
* Identify training requirements and assess the effectiveness of training programs and providers
* Coordinate and deliver HSEQ training to ensure employees are competent in their roles
* Provide mentoring and guidance to staff to support shared responsibility for safety and quality
Documentation & Contractors
* Review and update SOPs, SWMS, work instructions, and system documentation
* Manage chemical registers, SDS documentation, and related risk assessments
* Maintain supplier and subcontractor prequalification, evaluation, and compliance processes
* Audit suppliers and subcontractors where required to ensure alignment with company QSE standards
* Assist with HSEQ Documentation for Tenders
Collaboration & Culture
* Lead WHS Committee meetings, ensuring actions are closed out and risks escalated appropriately
* Work collaboratively with project teams, site staff, and shared services
* Build strong, positive relationships across the business to support performance, culture, and client outcomes
* Contribute to broader business improvement initiatives
Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, you will have:
* Minimum 3 years’ experience in an HSEQ or compliance-focused role
* Experience working with QSE systems, platforms, and software
* Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 frameworks
* Construction industry experience preferred, but not essential
* Experience with ISO 31000 desirable but not essential
You will be a clear communicator and confident influencer, able to work collaboratively while also operating autonomously once direction is established. Accountability, professionalism, and the ability to deliver outcomes in a timely manner are essential.
