**About the Role**:
As an APS6 Historian, you will work within a dynamic team to research, develop, and publish historical content for a range of audiences, including government officials, educators, and the broader community. The role involves managing historical projects, fact-checking materials, providing expert advice, and ensuring the accuracy and accessibility of commemorative resources.
This role offers the opportunity to engage with key stakeholders, including veterans, ex-service organisations, and government representatives, to uphold the integrity and significance of Australia's military history.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Conduct research and develop historically accurate content for government publications, speeches, and community engagement resources.
- Manage and contribute to historical projects, including the creation of commemorative materials such as posters, calendars, and educational resources.
- Provide expert advice on military history matters to internal stakeholders and government officials.
- Ensure all content aligns with accessibility and government style guidelines, including Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
- Engage with external stakeholders to promote historical initiatives and resources.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to team capability development.
- Oversee procurement processes and ensure compliance with financial and administrative regulations.
- Represent the team in meetings and external engagements as required.
We are looking for a skilled historian with a passion for Australian military history and strong research and communication skills.
Essential requirements include:
- A Honours, Master's, or PhD qualification in History, with a focus on Australian military history.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex historical information clearly.
- Strong research skills and attention to detail.
- The ability to manage multiple projects and meet fixed deadlines, particularly those tied to commemorative events.
- Demonstrated leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities.
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively, providing sound advice to senior leaders.
- Experience in project management and stakeholder engagement.
