Each of us cares about someone who will need medicines. That's why our vision is to repeatedly beat the odds to deliver breakthrough medicines to patients that need them. We pursue truth and scientific rigour and have the courage to work at the edge of the unknown.
We are seeking an exceptional computational scientist to drive structure-guided protein engineering and affinity maturation, with an emphasis on monoclonal antibody therapeutics and complex antibody-protein interactions. Your role sits at the intersection of high resolution structural data and in-silico therapeutic design, partnering closely with wet-lab teams to deliver engineered molecules with measurable improvements in affinity, specificity, and developability. If you are a scientific leader that engages in critical thinking and applies problem-solving skills to enable the successful transition of a pre-clinical candidate to clinical asset, we'd love to hear from you.
How you might spend your days
* Designing, implementing, and evaluating in-silico protein engineering activities to support optimization and maturation of antibody-based therapeutic assets
* Iteratively refining computational models based on real-world wet-lab data to bridge the gap between in-silico predictions and physical antibody therapeutic performance
* Collaborating with teams across the company to understand engineering challenges and propose solutions
* Preparing and authoring materials to educate colleagues and communicate strategies, key findings, and implications
* Organizing, supporting, and collaborating with other team members to meet project deliverables and timelines
We'd love to hear from you if
* You are a collaborative team player that can contribute to the design, execution, and evaluation of in-silico protein engineering workflows
* You are strongly self-motivated and work independently to identify project needs and follow that up with building and implementing solutions
* You demonstrate deep expertise in scientific programming, with advanced proficiency in Python applied to protein engineering workflows
* You possess deep domain expertise of antibody structure and function, and familiarity with techniques applicable to the molecular design, engineering, and experimental evaluation of antibody and/or antigen libraries for protein engineering purposes
* You have in-depth experience with machine-learning, AI, and/or physics-based techniques used to perform in-silico protein design
* You have a PhD in Biochemistry, Computational Biology, or a related field, and a minimum of 5+ years of related experience in a biological research setting
* You have a deep understanding of therapeutic antibody development and structural biology (this is desirable, but not required)
What we offer
In addition to base salary and 12.5% superannuation, we offer equity and an annual bonus dependent on team and company performance. You will also have an AUD $1,500 annual Active Lifestyle Allowance, annual leave and an extended summer closure, as well as professional development opportunities. Scientific and technical mentorship is a priority. And you'll find we prioritize teams and social groups to build community and connections across AbCellera.
About AbCellera
Creating medicines is the most important work we can do.
We are a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on discovering and developing antibody-based medicines in the areas of endocrinology, women's health, immunology, and oncology. We have built a platform for advancing antibody drug programs from target to clinic, and we are using it to build our internal pipeline.
Today, our pipeline includes two drug candidates in clinical development, two preclinical development candidates (DCs) in Investigational New Drug (IND)-enabling activities, and more than 20 active discovery programs across multiple modalities and indications.
We believe that when tenacious people share a vision and work together, they can truly have a positive impact. That's why we hire for character and intelligence, not just for CVs or experience.
We look for people with drive and energy. People we trust. People who need to know their days are being well spent. That their work really matters. In the end, our success will be measured by the impact of our medicines.
