Position Details
Groundskeeper
Temporary (Term 3 with a potential for Term 4) St Anthony's School, Wanneroo, is a co-educational double stream Catholic school that caters for over 430 students and their families from 3-Year-old Kindergarten to Year 6. We are a community that strives to develop and encourage the Christian values modelled by Jesus and where growth of the whole person is enhanced through our educational program.
The current groundsman is on extended sick leave; therefore, we are seeking someone who can maintain the school until he is fit enough for a full return to work. Work hours are from 6am – 1.30pm each day.
Duties:
1. Routine garden maintenance: Trim hedges, weed garden beds, water plants, and maintain outdoor play areas.
2. Ensure grounds are kept to a high standard, including rubbish collection, cobweb removal, pavement reinstatement, and general repairs.
3. Maintenance tasks: repair locks, patch plaster, paint, and perform basic plumbing repairs.
4. Prepare regular status reports on facility operations and project progress for senior management, in consultation with the Assistant Principal.
5. Work Health and Safety Compliance: monitor and report hazards, conduct basic risk assessments, and ensure the safe use and storage of tools and chemicals.
6. Security and safety checks: open/lock buildings and gates; perform routine inspections of grounds and buildings to ensure safety.
7. Maintain tools and equipment in good working order and report faults when necessary.
8. Assist with deliveries and waste management.
9. Assist in scheduling and supervising contractors or tradespeople on site as required.
10. Move and assemble office furniture as needed.
11. Collect mail and run errands as required.
12. Assist with event setup.
Selection Criteria
1. At least 3 years’ experience in facilities management, including assessing maintenance and repairs work requirements and coordinating services to meet standards.
2. Strong organisational and time management skills.
3. Knowledge and experience with basic plumbing and irrigation repairs.
4. Knowledge and/or experience with gardening.
5. Teamwork and excellent communication skills.
6. Reliable, flexible, and punctual.
7. Current full C class driver’s license.
8. Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role.
9. Prioritize safety in the workplace.
