Sugar Australia has an exciting opportunity for a Financial Accountant to join our Finance team on a permanent full-time basis, based at our Yarraville VIC head office. This opportunity is ideal for someone with strong financial accounting experience who's looking to take ownership of core finance processes and contribute to continuous improvement within a fast-paced, operationally complex FMCG environment. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you'll work across financial reporting, month‐end, audit, and budgeting processes, while maintaining strong internal controls and contributing to financial systems improvement. The sweet things you'll be involved in:
You'll play a key part in maintaining the integrity of our financial reporting and ensuring the smooth running of core finance processes. You'll work across month‐end close, compliance, forecasting, and audit preparation, while helping to improve systems and reporting efficiency. You will:
* Contribute to month‐end processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting schedules
* Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness
* Support key internal controls and cash management processes
* Assist with financial system processes to support monthly reporting, budgeting, and forecasting cycles
* Manage internal recharge documentation and preparing budget packs
* Prepare and submit data for BAS and FBT compliance requirements
* Coordinate weekly cash flow forecasts and support overall cash management activities
* Provide reporting for capital project governance and assist in capital project administration
1. Assist with year‐end processes, financial statements, and external audits
2. Continuously identify opportunities to improve financial processes and drive efficiencies
What we're wanting you to bring to the table:
We're seeking a results‐driven individual who is proactive, detail‐oriented, and motivated to grow their career. You'll bring a strong technical skillset, a continuous improvement mindset, and a desire to add value to the business. * Tertiary Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
* CPA or CA qualified (or currently completing)
* 2–3 years' experience in financial accounting or external audit, with a strong understanding of Australian accounting standards, BAS, and reporting requirements
* Background in a structured or complex environment, with experience in a Big 4 or mid‐tier accounting firm highly regarded
* Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills and comfortable working with large data sets
* Experience with major ERP systems such as SAP
* High level of accuracy, strong organisational skills, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement
* Strong problem‐solving skills with the ability to think methodically and deliver practical solutions
* Confident communicator with the ability to build effective working relationships across teams
* Collaborative, detail‐focused, and motivated to contribute to a high‐performing finance team
