Your new role
As a Dental Assistant you should be able to:
- Provide a high level of clinical chair side assistance contributing to dental operator efficiencies
- Adhere to Infection Control practice including sterilisation procedures
- Participate in outreach services including Smile Squad
- Provide an environment that is safe, comfortable and non-threatening to the client and other staff
- Communicate effectively with other team members and actively participate in team meetings
- Participate in the service’s health promotion program as a team member as an extension of using a health promotion approach during individual client contact
- Participate in team audits and administrative duties as required
- Maintain and enhance professional knowledge and technical skills by keeping up to date with new developments and relevant trends
You will be responsible for
As a Dental Assistant you will be responsible for:
- Providing a high level of clinical chair side assistance contributing to dental operator efficiencies
- Adhering to Infection Control practice as outlined in the Infection Control Policy
- Assisting with accurate dental charting into the client record
- Monitoring sterilisation procedures in accordance with recognised standards and organise regular auditing of equipment as per relevant national standards
- Participating in outreach services like Smile Squad as required
To succeed in this role you will have
To be successful with Merri you will go above and beyond to achieve great results for our patients, the organisation and yourself. We’re looking for individuals with:
- Certificate III in Dental Assisting or equivalent (relevant experience in dental field)
- Relevant experience in dental assistant responsibilities and high level of skills including customer service particularly in dealing with internal and external clients from diverse backgrounds and clients with special needs
- Demonstrated high quality communication skills and demonstrated the ability to work as an effective team member
