About your role
As a Systems Engineer – Process Control, you will be responsible for the systems engineering,design, operation, maintenance, lifecycle management, and technical assurance of Industrial Automation and Control Systems (IACS) across the site. The role ensures control systems are engineered to achieve safe, reliable, secure, and efficient production, in accordance with relevant control systems engineering, safety, and cybersecurity standards.
Responsibilities for this role include:
* Responsibilities include the design, construction, maintenance, and operation of the IACS, ensuring high availability, reliability, redundancy, and safe operation across the control systems environment.
* Proactively identify system risks and emerging issues, driving timely engineering solutions to mitigate incidents and implement controls to prevent unplanned downtime.
* Provide oversight of support incidents and maintenance activities, ensuring issues are prioritised, followed through to resolution, and addressed in line with system criticality.
* Manage IACS support vendors, including escalation where required, to ensure support quality and response times meet the risk and importance of the systems.
* Plan, test, and govern system changes, ensuring updates are risk-assessed, validated, and implemented without compromising safety or operations.
Key Experience and Skills
* Design, operation, and lifecycle management of Industrial Automation and Control Systems (IACS), ensuring reliability, availability, and security.
* Control system application design, implementation, commissioning, and operation.
* Expertise in IACS architecture, administration, maintenance, and networking.
* Hands-on experience with ABB 800xA or similar distributed control systems.
* Knowledge of industrial networking, OT cybersecurity, and IACS infrastructure, including DCS/PLC/SCADA, servers, storage, firewalls, switches, and industrial communications.
* Ability to produce system architecture, design, and functional specification documentation to recognised standards.
* Proactive in managing IACS health, risks, and lifecycle.
Qualifications and Certifications:
* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronic, Instrumentation, Computer, Process Control, or Systems Engineering).
* RPEQ registration, or eligibility to obtain registration.
* Demonstrated working knowledge of OT cybersecurity frameworks and standards, such as IEC 62443 and NIST.
* Solid understanding of ISA-95, the Purdue Model, and industrial-grade integration of Industrial Automation and Control Systems (IACS)
* Experience with ABB 800xA, VMware virtualisation, and industrial networking environments (highly regarded / essential).
* Knowledge of IEC programming and control logic development (advantageous).
* TUV Functional Safety certification (desirable).
